Help your energy flow
Feeling energetic. You know what that’s like… You have a spring in your step, and nothing can stop you. Things go smoothly, thoughts come easily, and creativity is at an all-time high.
Wouldn’t it be great if it were that way all the time?
In her book, The Energy of Money, Maria Nemeth, Ph. D. uses a metaphor to describe how energy comes into our life. It’s as if the vast reservoir of energy of the universe is plugged into each of us via conduits or pipes.
When the energy flows easily we feel powerful, but when things seem hard and we feel stuck and sluggish, the pipes are plugged or energy is leaking.
How’s your energy level right now?
She also says flows of energy show up in different forms. These are the energies that give our life zest. Those 6 forms are:
- physical vitality
They are all interrelated and each influences the others because our lives are holographic. Remember the hologram of Princess Leia in Star Wars? “Help me. Obiwan Kenobi. You’re my only hope!”
The energy flowing into our life is like that hologram
Here’s how. If you take a photograph of a tree and cut it into pieces, each piece will show a part of the tree. If you break the negative of a hologram of the same tree and shine a laser through a broken piece, you will see the whole tree.
Every broken piece of the hologram reflects the whole image. This is explained in more detail in The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot.
It’s the same with energy.
Each form of energy reflects the whole. Blocking a leak or widening a conduit in one area increases energy everywhere, all at once.
You control the flow through your integrity.
Integrity means staying in alignment with who you truly are (not who you think you’re supposed to be) and by keeping promises to yourself and others (doing what you said you would do).
You plug the leaks and widen the incoming conduits by focusing on your personal integrity.
What makes this so powerful is that it doesn’t matter if you do big things or little things. Like the hologram, any follow through in any area impacts energy as a whole.
It doesn’t have to be big, like “I’ll write my blockbuster book this fall.” It can be something as simple as I’ll clear off my desk tonight after I stop working.
Small promises matter
So, as you hunger for more relationship or feel stifled in your creativity, try keeping a promise to yourself. Choose any of the energy conduits that Dr. Nemeth named, promise to do something, then do it.
Promise yourself you’ll go for a walk (physical vitality), and then go. You pulled out the scrapbook material (creativity), spread it out and jump in. Your relative in another city that you’ve been meaning to call (relationship), call. Balance your checkbook (plug a leak around money) to the penny. You’ve been meaning to start reading that new novel (plug a leak around enjoyment), hit the sofa.
It’s all connected. One kept promise at a time. Cleaning energy conduits and plugging the leaks are how we re-energize.
And don’t we all need that right now?
